Montgomery County’s New Stormwater Permit Implementation PDF Print E-mail

On Wednesday, November 18, Montgomery County held a meeting to introduce its plan for implementation of the new Stormwater Permit.  Under clean water laws, the county has a permit for the storm drain system, where all the water appears to disappear when it rains, but actually goes to the nearest county creek.  The new permit runs for the next 5 years and requires that the county treat an additional 10% of all stormwater at the end of that period for a total of 20%.  We will post the powerpoint presentation as soon as the county posts it on the website.

At the meeting the county unveiled a website that was created to provide information and a portal for public participation.  We encourage all our members to peruse the website and to provide comments and suggestions on the Countywide Restoration Strategy, Watershed-Specific Restoration Plans (including Rock Creek), use of Environmental Site Design, and general comments.

Please check out the site and make comments at http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/stormwaterpermit
