Name of Restoration Site: RCPD7 Ken Gar Palasades

Location of the site: The Ken Gar site area, located off of Beach Drive and
Knowles Avenue, is part of 2 historic landmarks: the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O)
Viaduct and the Newport Mill.

History of the site:
According to Montgomery County DEP, a stream restoration project may be planned for this area.
The primary objective of this design is to improve water quality for the Rock Creek watershed,
by reducing peak discharges that worsen downstream erosion. Creation of additional
wetland acreage and flood flow attenuation capacity in the watershed can enhance water
quality and habitat.
